Prof. Dr. Recai Yücel, Temple University
Recai Yucel is Professor of Biostatistics and Assistant Director of Biostatistics at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Prior to joining Temple University, he was Professor of Biostatistics and the Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, State University of New York at Albany. Following his doctoral training at Pennsylvania State University, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School. He then worked as a statistical advisor at the Institute for Health Policy at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. During this time, Dr. Yucel was awarded a fellowship by the American Statistical Association and the National Center for Health Statistics to develop and disseminate methods for handling item nonresponse in complex sample surveys. Dr. Yucel’s research is mainly centered around missing data in complex data structures and on measurement error. Substantive issues in health services research, prevention research, social sciences and more general public health problems motivate his statistical research agenda. Some of the other research topics include computational algorithms and software development, hierarchical and latent variable models, models and methods for response errors and applied Bayesian statistics. To date, he has published close to 75 research articles in refereed journals, including the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Statistics in Medicine, The American Statistician, and Medical Care. He has also been PI and Co-PI on numerous research grants funded by the NIH, CDC and NSF.

Prof. Dr. Mine Çetinkaya-Rundel, Duke University
I am a Professor of the Practice and the Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Department of Statistical Science and an affiliated faculty in the Computational Media, Arts, and Cultures program at Duke University. My work focuses on innovation in statistics and data science pedagogy, with an emphasis on computing, reproducible research, student-centered learning, and open-source education. I work on integrating computation into the undergraduate statistics curriculum, using reproducible research methodologies and analysis of real and complex datasets. In Spring 2022, I’m teaching STA 210 - Regression Analysis. Find out more about the course here! In addition to my academic position, I also work with RStudio, where I focus primarily on education for open-source R packages as well as building resources and tools for educators teaching statistics and data science with R and RStudio.
Dr. Mine Doğucu, University of California
I am an Assistant Professor of Teaching (tenure-track) and Vice Chair of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Statistics at School of Information and Computer Sciences at University of California Irvine. I am an educator with an interest in statistics and data science education and I am an applied statistician with experience in educational research. In short, my educational work is in statistics and data science and my statistics and data science work is in education (Pre K - graduate school). My goal is to create educational resources for statistics and data science that are accessible physically and cognitively. My work focuses on modern pedagogical approaches in the statistics curriculum, making data science education accessible, and undergraduate Bayesian education. I am the coauthor of the book Bayes Rules! An Introduction to Applied Bayesian Modeling. I am a co-PI on the NSF-funded SoCal Data Science project and one of the PIs on the NIH funded project Irvine Summer Institute in Biostatistics and Undergraduate Data Science. I teach a variety of statistics, computing, and data science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I write blog posts about data, pedagogy, and data pedagogy at DataPedagogy.com. I co-chair the national Undergraduate Statistics Project Competition and Electronic Undergraduate Statistics Research Conference (USPROC/eUSR).
